De Bank voor Internationale Betalingen (BIB) werd opgericht in 1930 en is daarmee de oudste internationale financiële instelling. De BIB bevordert de samenwerking tussen de grote centrale banken die er de aandeelhouders van zijn en samen de raad van bestuur vormen.
