Anne of Green Gables
Directed By Kevin Sullivan
Based On The Books By L.m. Montgomery
Synopsis
(from Anne3.com -The Official Anne Site)
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, an elderly bachelor and spinster sister, have decided to adopt an orphan -- a nice, sturdy boy to help Matthew with the farm. However, the orphanage mistakenly sends a girl instead. Anne Shirley is a romantic, mischievous redhead desperate for a place to call home. She is also afflicted with an exhausting habit: she cannot stop talking. "She simply has to go back," says Marilla.
However, the longer Anne Shirley remains, the harder it is for Matthew and Marilla to imagine Green Gables without her. Despite Anne's frequent misadventures, which include insulting the town matriarch, dyeing her hair green, and unwittingly getting her best friend drunk, the Cuthberts grow to love the free-spirited young lady.
Once Anne starts school, she meets her classroom rival and sometime enemy, Gilbert Blythe. Through a series of occurrences, Anne swears that she will never tolerate the likes of Gilbert. Eventually, though, their battle of wills turns to affection as the pair became fast friends.

Synopsis
(from Anne3.com-The Official Anne site)
Anne, who has now bloomed into an attractive 18-year-old, has dutifully remained at Green Gables with Marilla Cuthbert. Taking a position as a teacher at Avonlea's school, she has put her ambition to become a celebrated author aside for now. Gilbert Blythe, Anne's childhood rival, has become a good friend and confidant. He is now entering medical school and is desperately in love with Anne. He tries in vain to convince her to marry him; yet, Anne remains as imaginative and romantic as ever, as she dreams of some day meeting her ideal man. She is disappointed and hurt to learn her once "bosom friend", Diana Barry, intends to marry the decidedly business-like and unromantic Fred Wright. Pondering her friend's imminent wedding, she laments, "Why does everyone have to grow up... and marry... and change?"
The opportunity arises for Anne to teach at an exclusive private girls school in Kingsport, Nova Scotia. Anne's desire to see more of the world and accomplish more with her life has begun to infringe on her turbulent relationships with Gilbert and Diana. Anne is soon convinced she must leave. She departs without reconciling matters with Gilbert.
Anne may have grown, but she still has a knack for finding trouble. After overcoming a rocky beginning at her new school, Anne gradually succeeds in winning over the old-money Kingsport establishment, and gaining the respect of her students and superiors.
Feeling homesick for Green Gables and Marilla, Anne returns to Prince Edward Island when summer arrives. Gilbert Blythe also returns to the island, seriously ill with scarlet fever. His illness causes Anne to re-evaluate her feelings for Gilbert. She finally expresses her deep love for him when he is at his lowest.
Gilbert recovers from his illness over the summer. Once restored to health he summons the courage to propose to Anne again. In accepting Gilbert's proposal, she acknowledges how important he is - and always has been - in her life.

Anne of Green Gables The Continuing Story
Directed By Stefan Scaini
Based on Characters By L.M. Montgomery
Synopsis
(from Anne3.com-The Official Anne Site)
Now in her twenties, Anne returns to Avonlea for the first time since Marilla Cuthbert's death. Gilbert has been offered a staff position at a hospital in New York, and persuades Anne to join him, for he has also arranged a position for her at a large publishing house.
But life in a big city isn't at all what they expected. Anne's manuscript is stolen by dashing American writer, Jack Garrison, and Gilbert becomes frustrated with the politics of working in a large city hospital. Anne convinces Gilbert to go home with her to Avonlea so that they can be married and put their disillusionment behind them.
When they return to Prince Edward Island, they find Green Gables in a sorry state and must also resign themselves to the fact that their future happiness will be affected by the war in Europe. Gilbert soon feels the pressure from the community and enlists as a medical officer. Anne returns to New York to continue her writing, but when Gilbert is listed as missing in action, she is compelled to set off to find him.
A bizarre twist of fate reunites Anne with Jack Garrison, now working as a war correspondent. He is travelling with a young French girl, Colette, and their baby son, Dominic. Our heroine reluctantly forms an alliance with the brash Garrison, because she needs his help with her search. Unbeknownst to the new Mrs. Blythe, her travel companion is keeping secrets from her that will affect more than the journeys outcome. Anne learns of Jack's role in an American intelligence effort to end the war.
As the war comes to a close, Anne searches for Gilbert far behind enemy lines in a German POW camp. She finds herself alone, in mortal danger and separated from the man she loves. Will Anne Shirley rise to the occasion? Will she be reunited with Gilbert? Will she ever return to Green Gables?
