Authentic French bakery serving macarons and pastries coming to the Short North

A new pastry shop featuring macarons, éclairs, croissants? Oui, s’il vous plaît!

According to recent documents filed with the city of Columbus, Le Macaron, a French bakery franchise that features authentic macarons, pastries, and gourmet chocolates, will be making its way to the Short North, right on the corner of Starr & High at 997 N. High St.

The founders of Le Macaron, Rosalie Guillem and Audrey Guillem-Saba, are paying homage to their French heritage by sharing the delectable world of French pastries with America. Their website says, “The family, originally hailing from France, were surprised to find that the American take on the ‘macaron’ was often simply sugar spun into a cookie shape or confused with the familiar coconut cookie, ‘macaroon.’” As a result, they opened their first Le Macaron French Pastries shop in 2009 to show America true, French macarons, and they began franchising the company in 2012.

They boast that each of their pastries are handmade with natural ingredients and no preservatives by French chefs at their commissary, staying true to their French roots. Their macarons are created from ground almonds and meringue, they’re lightly crisp on the outside, and smooth and creamy on the inside. Their macaron options include classic meringue, ganaches, rich creams, or homemade fruit jams.

Their website mentions that some of their locations serve a variety of wines and sparkling wines, along with coffee and gelato to pair with your pastries, which seems to be a perfect fit for the consumers in the Short North.
