Obituary of Paul T. DuMont

Paul T. DuMont, age 55, of Mayfield, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 after a long illness. He was born in Gloversville on November 29, 1960, the son of the late Willard and Alice Mance DuMont. Paul was a 1979 graduate of Gloversville High School and earned his Associates Degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College. He was an avid skier and loved the outdoors. After spending time in Vail, Colorado working at a ski resort, he returned to upstate New York where he met his future wife Amanda. Paul was a jack of all trades, with careers as a bus driver for the Broadalbin-Perth School District, a chef at Romana's Italian Kitchen and his home remodeling venture with business partner and close friend Barrie Hampton. He enjoyed hiking the Adirondacks, boating, cycling and spending time with family and friends at his camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake. Paul was very well-known in the community, making countless friends with his gregarious personality. Survivors include his wife Amanda Wormuth DuMont whom he married on August 16, 2008; two sisters Elizabeth McGregor and her husband Richard Calabrese, and Jan Quick and her husband George Quick, both of Gloversville; along with two nieces, Casey and Megan and two nephews, Dustin and Nathan. A memorial service will be held at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home in Gloversville on Sunday, June 5 at 2pm with visitation hours starting at noon.
