This Willys M38 got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1953 Willys M38A1 underwent a refurbishment under prior ownership, and it is finished in olive drab over green canvas upholstery. Power is provided by a 134ci Hurricane inline-four linked to a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case and the truck features a removable canvas soft top and side windows, as well as a folding windshield, a 24-volt electrical system, radio equipment, a rear pintle hitch, a replica pedestal-mounted machine gun, body-color 16” steel wheels, and white US Army-style stencil graphics. This M38A1 is now offered by the selling dealer with a tool kit and a clean Arizona title.
The truck is finished in drab green with white US Army-style stencil graphics and was repainted under prior ownership. Exterior details include a removable canvas soft top and side windows, along with a folding windshield, a rear pintle hitch, black-out lights, and a rear-mounted canvas water bag, jerrycan, and spare tire. There are dents on the left front fender.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 5.00-16 STA NDCC military tires. Stopping is handled by four-wheel drum brakes.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in green canvas. Equipment includes twin-stick transfer case selectors, a floor-mounted shifter and parking brake, a power cutoff switch, a passenger grab handle, and a glove compartment. A pedestal-mounted replica 50-caliber machine gun is located between the two seats, and radio equipment and a whip antenna are fitted in the left rear. There are stains on the rear seat upholstery.
The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a painted dashboard housing an 80-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 1,300 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 134ci Hurricane F-head inline-four was reportedly rebuilt under prior ownership and features a single carburetor and a water-fording induction system. The truck retains a 24-volt electrical system. A shovel is mounted to the underside of the hood.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a Borg Warner T90 three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
