This 1979 Motobecane Mobylette 50V is powered by a 49cc two-stroke single paired with a centrifugal clutch and is finished in metallic red. Equipment includes a bench seat, full suspension, 17″ wire-spoke wheels, drum brakes, a crankset and pedals for starting, a variator, and both a headlight and a taillight. The moped was acquired by the seller in 2013, and subsequent work included replacing the ignition coil and carburetor. The front tire was replaced in 2021. This Moby 50V is now offered at no reserve in North Carolina with a bill of sale.
The moped is finished in metallic red and features a steel backbone frame that carries one gallon of fuel within its spine. Additional equipment includes a center stand, chain guards, a headlight, a taillight, a frame-mounted parcel lock, and a black bench seat with a white Motobecane emblem. Brightwork includes the front fender, side-mounted grab handles, and side compartment covers.
Chrome 17″ rims laced to hubs with 80mm brake drums wear a 2.25″ Golden Boy front tire that was mounted in 2021 and an older rear tire. Suspension consists of an inverted fork with black rubber gaiters as well as twin shrouded shocks attached to the swingarm.
The chrome handlebar is equipped with a mirror, brake levers, a twist-grip throttle, a decompression lever, and controls for the ignition and horn. The headlight switch is mounted to the nacelle. An Huret 35-mph speedometer contains an inset four-digit odometer showing 1,773 miles, approximately 600 of which were ridden by the seller. The seller notes that the throttle is hard to twist.
The 49c two-stroke single features a crankset and pedals for starting along with a chrome underslung exhaust system. The stock Gurtner carburetor has been replaced with a Dell’Orto. There is a lever on the belt pulley that disconnects the pedal crankset from the motor, allowing the moped to be ridden like a bicycle.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a centrifugal clutch, a belt, a variator, and a drive chain.
The moped does not have a title or registration and is being sold on a bill of sale only.
