Welcome to
Social Standards
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Social Standards programme at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (FUTO CE-sPESS). The Social Standards, one of the three programme areas in FUTO CE-sPESS was established in 2019 by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in partnership with the World Bank to provide innovative training programmes, which before were now not available in Nigerian higher institutions.
The Social Standards programme is designed to develop human capacity in Social Standards practice in public and private sector projects and business processes for sustainable development in Nigeria, Africa and the global community. The programme will equip graduates with appropriate knowledge and skills in the solution of contemporary social issues; gender, land acquisition/resettlement, welfare, labour, and general livelihood.
