- Pigeons and doves are found everywhere on Earth, not including the driest areas of the Sahara Desert, Antarctica and the islands surrounding it, as well as the high Arctic.
- They build nests built out of twigs and sometimes lined with pine needles or other soft materials such as root fibers. These nests are made either on the ground, in trees, bushes or cacti, trees or on ledges
What they eat:
- The diet of pigeons and doves consists primarily of seeds and fruit. Some species also eat insects.
- Some types of doves take a large amount of prey items like insects and worms.
Method of eating:
- Pigeons and doves are small to medium size birds.
- They have short legs, a plump body, small neck and tiny head. Their feathers usually consist of various shades of grey and tan. These Columbiformes have short bills which are hard at the tip but become softer at the base.
- Also, they have a ring of skin surrounding their eyes that can be either red, blue, yellow or white
Behaviour:
- Pigeons and doves are monogamous and pairs often remain together for more than one breeding season.
