English: Additional file 8: Video 8 Two excerpts from high-speed sequences of a pilidium of M. alaskensis in which the captured Rhodomonas passes over the lappet while remaining nearly in focus (no corresponding figure). In each case the inner ciliated band erects on the opposite side and elsewhere around the lappet margin, but remains more or less at rest in the region over which the captured cell entered. Recorded at 500 fps / playback at 30 fps = ~16x slow-motion. |
