High, with bar-like radial shields (Asteronyx loveni Müller & Troschel, 1842 (dry specimen)). C. Sac-like, radial shields absent (Ophiotholia spathifer (Lyman, 1879)). D. Thick skin obscuring scales and plates (Ophiosparte gigas Koehler, 1922). E. Flat, radial shield scalene triangular to half circle (Amphiura chiajei Forbes, 1843). F. Arm combs, radial shields isosceles triangular to pearshaped (Ophiura ophiura (Linnaeus, 1758)).
