After growing up in Jamaica, Adam Francis' passion for literature landed him a teaching position in Japan. He learned the language and embraced the culture, forging genuine connections with his students. On the way to work, his train derailed, flipping upside down with a violent screech. As an unhinged door careened toward a passenger, Adam shielded the woman from harm, bracing for an impact that never came. Opening his eyes, he saw darkness, as tendrils of black fog swirled amidst the wreckage.
