(ENDE220) Stone Serpent - Spirochaete

In the first release for 2018. ENDE regular James Miller re-releases the latest album from his "Stone Serpent" moniker.

Originally self released on his Bandcamp almost a year ago to the day. "Spirochaete" is a collection of minimal dark ambient, isolationist noise and low end electronic compositions. Keeping things at a crawling and sluggish pace.

"Spirochaete" is a background listening or a late night downtime album. Each track taking it's own time to present itself and it's intentions. With changes to the composition introduced gradually and sometimes...without any definition or explanation.
Cold, electronic synth blips dropped in places like an exploration of sound, more than a linear presentation of it, with the only anchor to the warbling audio soup, the elastic bass that shakes over each track.

Much like other great works of dark ambient like Final's "Solaris". "Spirochaete" sneaks in the occasional sparse and droning melody or stretched arranged section which is translatable to the listener or someone on copious amounts of barbiturates. "The brief "Enuh" is a good example of this, as is the ethereal "else-Or". There's also tracks like "Insect Destroyer" which present themselves more as cinematic arrangements to lull you into a hallucination of what might be transpiring. Giving it a sometimes uneasy, aural nausea that the album conjures up effortlessly.

Although not to allow you to ease into it too much. There's also jagged, mechanical and abrasive noise pieces wedged in uncomfortably to jolt you out od deep sleep like "Test 1" or "Adalehcim" to break the false sense of calm the album invites.

Stone Serpent (James Miller/Solypsis) was among the first producers to contribute to ENDE Records back in early 2015 and it's an honour for us to re-release "Spirochaete" as his final appearance for the project on this label.
