“Annie“ Minick’s faithful journey on earth ended Tuesday, May 7th, 2013. She was 95 and lived in Spring Hill. Anne was born Dec. 28th, 1917, in Ukkel, Belgium, to Frans and Irma Mommaert. She was raised in Belgium. There, during WWII, the never-ending love story of Annie and Jimmy began. Soon after the war ended, with faith in God’s plan, she came to America and they were united in marriage, on April 24, 1947. She proudly became a US Citizen in 1951. Throughout the years they lived in KCMO and Leawood. In 1976 they moved to their farm, “Annie’s Acres,” in Spring Hill. Wherever she lived, she made beautiful, by planting trees and multitudes of flowers. Anne and Jim owned a successful Kansas City business, Strahm Printing and Mailing.Anne led a gracious, loving life that included being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. The love she had for her brother, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews filled her heart with joy. Family, friends and caregivers were amazed by her strength, dignity and resolve throughout the many years she struggled with Alzheimer’s. She endeared everyone with her sweetness. Some even learned a little French so they could make her smile. The family is very appreciative to her caregivers, Village Shalom Day Stay, Golden Living Center, Dr. Steve Gruenbaum, Dr. Lolita Aznaurova, and all the other friends and professionals from whom we received support throughout the long goodbye. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James C. Minick in 2003 and her parents. Survivors include her devoted daughter and husband, Vicky and Randy Loveall; her grandchildren, Ryan and Drew Hill and Tenisha and Marshall Loveall.
