Albert J. Bils, age 93 of Upper Sandusky died at 12:30 a.m. on Mon. July 23, 2012 at The Inn at Westbrook, Upper Sandusky. He was born May 5, 1919 in Holgate to the late Henry O. Bils and Maria Louise Triphonia (Lippens) Bils. On December 1, 1945 he married Viola M. Unverferth in Glandorf, she preceded him in death on February 8, 2008.

Surviving is a son Bernie (Linda) Bils, Upper Sandusky; daughters Barbara (Gerry) Flaig, Ashton, MD, Kate (Ed) Wead, Sycamore, Louise (Don) Frombaugh, Sycamore; a daughter-in-law, Lindell Bils, Upper Sandusky; 10 grandchildren Betsy Bubelink, Kyle Bils, Cory Bils, Evan Bils, Jason Hillyer, Tate Hillyer, Ryan Bils, Matt Frombaugh, Ben Frombaugh, Nick Frombaugh; 11 great grandchildren; a brother Robert Bils, Upper Sandusky; sisters Helen Swartz, Nevada and Marialyce Haferd, Galion.

He is preceded in death by a son David E. Bils; two grandsons Joseph Frombaugh and Paul Hillyer; brothers George Bils and Joseph Bils; as well as two infant sisters.

In 1937 he graduated from Harpster High School. A veteran of the United States Army Mr. Bils served his country during WWII in South Africa and was recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was a retired lifelong farmer and served as a director of the Federal Land Bank as well as a former farm bureau member. Mr. Bils was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, a life member of the following, K of C #2050, VFW Post #2842, AmVets #777, American Legion Post #225 all of Upper Sandusky.

Mr. Bils and his wife spent 15 winters in N. Ft. Myers, FL, he enjoyed playing cards and throwing Frisbees, had a hard work ethic, a special touch for kids and a special wit for sayings, thoughts and humor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday July 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. J.R. Hadnagy, O.F.M. Conv. officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thurs. July 26, 2012 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the BRINGMAN CLARK FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be held at 3:45 p.m. before visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot Memorial Hospital, St. Peter's School Endowment Fund, Kof C #2050 or the Hospice of Wyandot Co. in care of BRINGMAN CLARK FUNERAL HOME 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Military graveside honors will be conducted by Upper Sandusky Honor Color Guard.
