SUMMARY
Anamorph: Geniculosporium sp. Conidiomata absent. Conidiophores formed on dark brown to black stromatic structures, to 140 µm, mainly dichotomously branched, light brown. Conidiogenous cells to 25 x 3 µm, with intercalary conidiogenous loci, light brown. Conidia 4-7 x 2.5-3 µm, narrowly ellipsoidal with a truncate base, hyaline to light brown.
Teleomorph: stromata 0.7-1.1 mm diam., 0.7-0.9 mm high, almost globose, with the top tapering to a point and papillate to pointed ostioles, brown to dark brown, black when old, gregarious in small groups. Outer layer of stroma 25-50 µm thick, black, inner layer dark brown, only present at the base. Subiculum light to dark brown, felty, completely covering young stromata, during maturation becoming gradually reduced to the base until completely absent in old material. Interascal tissue composed of broad thin-walled gradually tapering unbranched paraphyses, ca 4 µm diam. near the base. Asci 199-210 x 10.5-13 µm, the spore-bearing part 160-185 µm, stipe 10-30 µm in length, fairly thick-walled but not fissitunicate, the apex obtuse to rounded, with a very large cylindrical to obconical apical ring 3.5-4.5 µm diam. at the apex and 6.5-10 µm high that blues in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores (26-) 29-32 x 6-7.5 µm, asymmetrical, narrowly ellipsoidal with slightly pinched ends, dark brown when mature, aseptate, smooth, with a sigmoid germ slit that is much shorter than the spore length, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
