Box Score 2 CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i softball team (1-7) dropped two games on Day 2 of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic at the at the Big League Dreams Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fell 9-0 in five innings to Fresno State then lost to California, 10-2 in the second game.

The Bulldogs got out of the gates fast, bringing nine batters to the plate and scoring three runs in the top of the first. Fresno State hit a solo home run by Keahilele Mattson plus a pair of RBI singles by Lauren Almeida and Kennedy Bunker for an early 3-0 lead.
FSU added three runs in the second off a three-run home run by Sophia Medellin. UH starter
Addison Kostrencich was lifted after an inning and a third for
Chloe Borges.
Fresno State then added a run in the fourth by Emma Martinez to extend their lead to 7-0 and added two more in the fifth on a two-RBI double by Medellin for a 9-0 lead.

Hawai'i's Kostrencich suffered the loss, allowing six runs in the first 1-1/3 innings. She gave up six hits with two walks and a strikeout. Borges threw the final 3-2/3 innings in relief. She gave up three runs while scattering six hits with a pair of walks.
Fresno State's starter Gilmore tossing four innings to start the game. She allowed four hits with three strikeouts. Serayah Neiss threw the final inning and had one strike out.
California 10, Hawai'I 2
The Golden Bears scored a pair of runs to start the game in the first inning. Acacia Anders drove an RBI-double to the left-center gap to score Kyndal Todd, and Tianna Bell lifted a sacrifice fly to score Anders.
Cal added another run in the second on an RBI-single to right by Tatum Anzaldo to score Ryann Orange. The Golden Bears added three more in the fourth on an error and a two-run home run by Elon Butler to extend their lead to 6-0.
Hawai'i broke up Cal's no-hit bid and shutout with an RBI-double by
Maya Nakamura in the bottom of the fourth to score pinch-runner
Keely Kai.
On two outs in the seventh, the Golden Bears launched a pair of two run homers to lengthen lead to 10-1.
Hawai'i got one run back in the bottom of the seventh on a throwing error that allowed pinch-runner

Hawai'i's starter Millie Fidge suffered her first loss of the season (0-1). She threw the first 3-12/3 innings, allowing six runs on five hits with six walks and two strikeouts.
McKenna Kostyszyn came in relief and held Cal scoreless until two outs in the seventh when the Golden Bears scored four runs on two home runs. She threw the final 3-1/3 innings giving up four runs on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
Cal's Randi Roelling (4-1) earned the complete-game win. She allowed two runs on one hit with two walks and 12 strikeouts.
The Rainbow Wahine have a bye day on Saturday but will return to the diamond for the final day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Sunday, Feb. 25 with two games. UH will take on Illinois at 6:30 a.m. HT followed by No. 5 Tennessee.
