Spartina bakeri is a beautiful clumping native grass found in the Southeastern US and Texas. Its narrow, fine-textured foliage grows up to five feet. Spartina bakeri is an excellent backdrop for other perennials and it is stunning when planted in masses. Although it is native to the edges of lakes, canals and streams, it is also found in dry, sandy soil, making it quite versatile for a number of dry or wet situations. Cord Grass is a favorite grass of golf course landscape designers who often use it to define borders and provide transitions between wet and dry areas. Cord Grass prefers full sun and is considered drought tolerant once established.
