Belgium

An emotional but proud Valérie Dejardin was sworn in for the second time as mayor of Limbourg.

Emotional at the thought of the two members of her team who passed away during the previous mandate, former mayor Jean Marie Reinertz and councillor Alain Dubois. But proud of the work accomplished over the last six years, and above all of the support given by the people of Limburg in the last elections. It's true that she will now have a comfortable majority of eleven seats out of seventeen, whereas in previous years, only one majority seat was held.In previous years, a single seat majority with the contribution of the MR made it precarious and difficult to manage. "Today, I'm stronger in terms of experience and relationships, and stronger in terms of the support of the people of Limburg.

She will be surrounded by a renewed team, which she considers to be very close-knit, with no less than three new aldermen joining the college: Luc Delhez for works, Alain Schils for finance, and 24-year-old Stephen Bolmain for education and tourism. The only "surviving" alderman is routine alderman Jacques Soupart, in charge of culture and youth. Former alderwoman Mélanie Defaaz will chair the CPAS. Also new: the council will be chaired by Serge Grandfils, better known in the trade union world as "Sapin".
