A-RNVG Details
Manufactured by AB Night Vision / Built by US Night Vision. The A-RNVG, (Articulating Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle) is a very durable, full-featured night vision binocular. The billet machined aircraft-grade aluminum housing is made to handle realistic, hostile conditions. This housing has survived drops onto bare concrete from heights beyond what lenses and image intensifiers can sustain during MIL-STD-810H drop testing. This means you won't have to worry about breaking them when you inevitably walk into a branch or hit your head getting into a vehicle.
The design has power push-button controls and an IR illuminator. To avoid accidental activation, a fence with distinctive curves guards the IR illuminator button. When the IR illumination is active or the battery is low, viewing area indicators alert the user. A 4 pin LEMO connector powers the gadget from an onboard 123 battery or a battery pack.
Full-range adjustments are available for A-RNVG optics. The mil-spec eyepieces have a diopter adjustment range of -6 to +2 and the objectives focus between 9.8 inches and infinity. The articulating design lets users simply change the Interpupillary Distance from 47mm to 80mm.
Rotating each optical pod out of the user's view frees one or both eyes for normal sight as needed. The optical pods can be folded back flat against the helmet when the goggle is helmet-mounted and stowed to reduce neck strain and protect the goggle and user from overhead objects. Articulated optical pods turn off automatically. This function turns the image intensifiers off when the optical pods are folded back against the helmet and inhibits illumination when one side is articulated up. The optical pods' swing force can be adjusted with a coin.
