Victor was first discovered in 1800 in Aveyron France. He is believed to have lived his whole life up until then, in the woods. Jean Marc Gapard Itard was the one to teach Victor at the Deaf Insitute in Paris. From there on Itard came up with different ways to try and teach Victor to speak. In the end Victor learned two words and only a primitive form of communication. Itard described him later on as an equal to a born deaf mute. Victor later died at the age of 30 in 1828.
