Abstract
Twenty isolates of Sphaceloma ampelinum (de Bary) were collected from grape growing region of Kashmir Valley. Variability was studied for their cultural, morphological and molecular aspects. Cultural studies revealed that isolates were wrinkled; compact forming raised mounds of mycelia, presence of sparse to no aerial mycelium with irregular and appressed margins. Colony colour varied from dark grey olivaceous with creamy white regions to light orange, light brown, light pink, red brick and creamy white to black. Colony diameter ranged from 9.2 to 27.66 (mm) after 30 days of incubation. Small conidia were observed with dimensions ranging between 2.4 and 10.02 µm × 1.9 and 5.6 µm. Conidial shape varied from cylindrical, circular to oblong. ISSR revealed variability among the isolates forming two major clusters and one independent lineage. There was no grouping among the isolates based on their geographical origin and were separated individually at 74 per cent of similarity coefficient.
