Abstract

The jackfruit tree (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) is one of the most important fruit crops and is widely cultivated in Vietnam. The surveys conducted in Dak Lak province in 2022 revealed that fruit rot showing dark brown to black lesions was a serious disease of mature jackfruit in Dak Lak province, Vietnam. A causative agent was isolated from 26 diseased samples and identified as Lasiodiplodia theobromae based on morphological characteristics and multi-locus analyses of ITS, TEF1-α and TUB. Its pathogenicity was confirmed by artificial inoculation. To our knowledge, this is the first report of L. theobromae causing fruit rot of jackfruit in Vietnam.
