Summary
The development of skin spot (Oospora pustulans) on potato tuber eyes was studied during winter storage. Under the conditions of this experiment there was a gradual increase in the total percentage of eyes infected by the fungus. This suggested a spread of infection during storage to which high humidity may have been an important contributing factor.
Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung der Tüpfelfleckigkeit (Oospora pustulans) an den Augen von Kartoffelknollen (SorteKing Edward) wurde während der Winterlagerung untersucht. Aus einer Miete wurden in regelmässigen Zeitabständen Knollenmuster entnommen. Die Augenstücke wurden entfernt und unter Inkubationsbedingungen gebracht. Diese Methode löste, wenn der Pilz vorhanden war, Sporenbildung aus und ermöglichte es, abgetötete Augen zu erkennen. Die Ergebnisse sind aus Abb. 1 zu ersehen. Nach 6 Wochen Lagerung war, bei einer entsprechenden Abnahme befallener und nicht befallener lebender Augen, eine Zunahme im Prozentsatz befallener abgetöteter Augen zu verzeichnen. Als Gesamtergebnis kann eine Zunahme in der Zahl befallener Augen während der Lagerungsperiode festgehalten werden. Es wird angenommen, dass eine Ausbreitung der Infektion stattgefunden hat, zu der hohe Feuchtigkeit als wichtiger Faktor beigetragen haben mag.
Résumé
L'auteur a étudié, pendant la conservation hivernale, le développement de l'oosporiose (Oospora pustulans) sur les yeux de tubercules de la variétéKing Edward. Les échantillons de tubercules étaient prélevés dans un silo extérieur à intervalles réguliers et les yeux étaient enlevés et mis à incuber. Cette technique induit la sporulation du champignon éventuellement présent et révèle la mortalité des yeux. Fig. 1 montre les résultats obtenus. Il y a augmentation progressive dans le pourcentage des yeux infectés morts après six semaines de conservation, et une diminution correspondante des yeux infectés et non infectés vivants. Le résultat général est une augmentation du nombre total des yeux infectés pendant la période de conservation et il est supposé qu'il y a une extension de l'infection, extension à laquelle l'humidité élevée doit avoir beaucoup contribué.
