The location is good. The inside is good. The shops are good. The variety is good. The ambiance is good. I like going here for something to eat and to walk around. Both are good for in this common grounds mall, or something like that. There are quite a few stories of things to do and places to shop. Sometimes, I walk out of there after having buying something other than food just because it looks so cool. Some of the things in the shop are fascinating and sometimes represent Minnesota and/ or Minneapolis. This is different than the average mall. This reminds me more of a food court in a typical mall, just with more food places and more stores that aren't related to food.
The place is hard to get to and sometimes inconvenient. That's Nicollet Ave.'s fault. I can look beyond that when considering whether to go there. This is great for when I have the day off, especially in the day time. The people are great. They're pleasant to talk to. The merchandise and the food in most of the stores are great. I can buy almost anything from there and be satisfied. I'll be back, especially on a day off of work on a weekday.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Apr 21, 2013
Another sad almost deserted space with a few stores and offices here and there. It's too bad, because the space is really nice. Water fountains, whimsical food court area with the fair theme and some bathrooms that are Suprisingly clean.
The only time I really go through Gavidae is to cut through to the other skyways.
I'll have to add this to the list of other places that used to be. Town Square, City Center, Block E.
I think I read that they were going to give it a facelift. Really?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - sarah p.Washington, DC1076545800Jul 10, 2008First to Review
I don't work downtown, so I'm not a skyway rat. I invariably get lost every time I wander around the 2nd floor commercial maze that defines Minneapolis. So it always feels good when I stumble back to the familiar Gaviidae Common. I don't shop here often (but I do stop into Off 5th every now and again), but it's a peaceful oasis in the middle of the hubbub. If I need to get some work done, a cafe in this building does the trick. There's space, and there's no rush--along with plenty of free wifi. And I kind of like how the gilded architecture makes me feel special.

PARKING GARAGE: Visiting Minneapolis this weekend, this was a good place to park when staying at The Westin across the street. Much cheaper than The Westin valet! Heated garage was nice, easy to use the machines to pay and no issues here. I would park here again if I was staying nearby.

Both Gavidee Commons I & II are magnificent shopping complexes with a nice mix of retailers. Beautiful architecture inside & outside. Great ambience, it makes a person want to browse the stores and spend money. It happens to me everytime I'm in Minneapolis. More cities need to invest in shopping complexes like this for their downtowns.

I do like wandering around the Common. They got some unique but highly overpriced stores. A few restaurants and salons. I love the see through elevators and the waterfalls. Very nice. During lunch its all hustle and bustle. Good for a little walk on your lunch hour.
