The Les Demoiselles de la Font du Loup appears bright crimson in the glass. It opens with a nose of red fruits and fresh strawberries. With its bright, spicy red fruit aromas, this wine is exciting just to smell. Add to that flavors of raspberry and cream, a lush texture, generous weight and a long, spicy finish, and you have the complete package: it offers a fruity, easygoing palate that rewards early consumption.
Pair with grilled beef and lamb, grilled lobster with butter and rosemary, Brie de Meaux, or roasted pumpkin with thyme and garlic.
La Font du Loup is both a famous lieu-dit, within the commune of Courthézon, and the name of the natural spring (the fountain of the wolf) in the center of the estate. Legend has it that wolves from Mount Ventoux would stop to drink here. Acquired by the Melia family in 1942, today the grand-daughter of the founder, Anne-Charlotte and her husband Laurent oversee the estate and the winemaking.
80% Grenache, 20% Syrah, traditional vinification in concrete tanks with low temperature fermentation. Aged for 9 months in concrete tanks.
