Lara Catherine Stone (born December 20 1983) is a Dutch model and it-girl.

Where does she come from?

Lara Stone was born December 20, 1983 in Geldrop, Netherlands. When the model agent in a Parisian metro spots her at the age of 12, she does not believe her ears: “I, the ugly little girl with a gap in her teeth?” Despite her surprise, the project becomes real and at the age of fifteen, she signs a contract in the Netherlands with the Elite modeling agency. A year later, she beggs her parents to let her try her luck in Paris. At just 16, without the bac in hand, she lands in the capital, for a few hard years. Success takes quite a while to point it’s nose. And finally at 23, after signing with the agency IMG, her career takes off.

Why all the attention from big brands?

Ricardo Tisci describes her as the modern icon, Karl Lagerfeld thinks that it gives the edge of fashion and fashion photographer Mario Testino said: “She is the embodiment of beauty today. Fashion has had its anorexic phase, now we have Lara. ” It is true that next to her frail collegues, her real chest and her female figure leaves a mark on the podium. Emblem of a new era, the Stone? Not sure. However though we announce regularly the return of curves, it is clear that in the middle of Freja Behas and other models of the moment, the Dutch remain some of the few not to give in to androgyny.

For Lara is also the bad girl that was missing from the new generation of models.
