Phlox drummondii is a true annual, coming up from seeds every year. Native to Texas, this beautiful five petaled flower bursts open from spikey flower buds, and hovers over green foliage like little sun parasols. This warm season flowering annual attracts bees and butterflies and makes a wonderful childrens garden addition. Intensia Blueberry is a true blue flower with a darker blue throat, and a glowing orange stamen in the center. Such a fun color!
Native to North America in Zones 10a through 11b, this sun loving annual can grow just about anywhere once placed out after the danger of the last frost and will bloom until the first hard frost kills it. Unlike perennial phlox, phlox drummondii must be replanted year after year or allowed to go to seed for new flowers in the same place the next spring. It blooms in late summer to early fall.
Intensia Blueberry Phlox Care
Intensia Blueberry is an easy care annual. As long as the soil it is in is well draining, it will tolerate all soil types. It is a heavy feeder, requiring an all-purpose fertilizer to support the incredible show of flowers. It does prefer sandy soil, pH 5.8 to 6.2, and appreciates regular watering. It is heat and drought tolerant, and resists the powdery mildew that can plague perennial phlox. In extremely hot sunny regions, it will appreciate some light afternoon shade.
Deadheading is not required to keep Intensia Blueberry producing flowers all season long. P. drummondii self cleans its spent flowers. This is not true of all phlox, however, as some phlox will slow and eventually stop blooming unless you deadhead to extend the bloom season. If you would like to prevent it from going to seed, snipping the spent flowers will do that for you.
Intensia Blueberry Phlox Spacing
This upright annual will grow to about 16 inches tall and spread 16 inches wide. Keep that in mind if you want to use it in containers. Proper spacing of 8 to 10 inches creates proper air circulation and helps reduce any powdery mildew from forming. Pair this lovely blue annual with daisies, colorful grasses, petunia and other sun loving annuals for a colorful fall display.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)
We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.
The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Plant Shipping
Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.
Winter to Early Spring
We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.
Summer
If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.
Fall into Winter
We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!
Winter
Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!
