Biography

SENIOR [2023-24]

• 2024 Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year 

• Played in 25 games for the Longhorns in the 2023-24 season.

• Averaged 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. 

JUNIOR [2022-23]

• Gaston had a breakthrough season in 2022-23 as she earned All-Big 12 First Team honors. 

• Played in 32 games on the season was second on the team in scoring average at 12.1 points per game. 

• Recorded four double-doubles on the season, including 20 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in win over Alabama State. Had 10 offensive rebounds in the game. 

• Scored 24 points on 12-20 shooting in win over the road at Kansas. 

• An imposing presence on the inside, blocked 40 shots on the season to help UT set a single season team blocks record. 

• Led Texas on the boards with 5.8 rebounds per game. 

• Named Big 12 Player of the Week on Dec12. 

SOPHOMORE [2021-22]
• Enjoyed a breakout sophomore averaging 7.1 points per game and tallied 11 double-digit scoring efforts.
 Appeared in 34-of-36 games and made 28 starts during the season.
 Paced the team in offensive efficiency shooting 51.9 percent from the field on the year.
 Notched a season-high 19 points on 9-of-11 from the field vs CSUN [Nov. 27].
 Matched a season-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting to along with seven rebounds vs Idaho [Dec. 11]
 Recorded first career double-double performance vs San Diego [Dec. 19] with 11 points and 10 boards.
 Scored 16 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting performance vs TCU [Feb. 26].
 Posted second double-double in Big 12 Championship semifinal victory over Iowa State [March 12] with 13 points and 10 rebounds. 

FRESHMAN [2020-21]
•    Appeared 11 games during her freshman campaign, making three starts.
•    Averaged 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
•    Ranked No. 3 on the team in field goal percentage converting at a 45.7 (32-of-70) percent clip.
•    Posted four double-figure scoring games.
•    Notched first career double-double performance vs Lamar [Dec. 29] totaling a season-best 18 points to go along with 10 boards.

PREP
• The No. 90 overall player in the class of 2020, according to espnW Hoop Gurlz, including the No. 20 player at the forward position. Was ranked as high as the No. 1 player in the 2020 class as a freshman before suffering injuries in her sophomore season. 
• Twice named a Class 6A All-State selection [2019, 2020] by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. 
• Finished her high school career with 2,008 points. 
• In her senior year of 2019-20, earned Class 6A All-State honors from both the TABC and TGCA and was named the District Most Valuable Player. Her Pearland team went 24-11 overall and advanced to the Regional Quarterfinals. 
• Averaged 19.4 points per game on 52 percent shooting, 10.2 rebounds per game and 2.6 blocks per game as a senior. 
• Proved to be one of the best players in the nation as a junior in 2018-19, averaging 18.1 points per game on 52 percent shooting. Also averaged 9.5 rebounds per game and 1.9 blocks per game. Was named the Class 6A District Player of the Year and District Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to a TABC All-State selection. 
• Missed the majority of her sophomore season due to injuries but was named the District Offensive Player of the Year and an All-Region selection. 
• As a high school freshman, averaged a double-double with 17.5 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game to go along with 3.0 blocks per game and 2.0 steals per game.

• Parents are Warren and Shanett Gaston. 
• Mother, Shanett, played collegiate basketball at Texas Southern, where she was a two-year starter. 
• Sister, Shanequa, played collegiate basketball at Langston University.
