”In the spring of 2012 I started diving on a 2,5 month trip to Cambodia. Although the beauty of the underwater world and its inhabitants instantly enchanted me, I was also confronted for the first time with plastics floating in the water. Many dives followed and sadly everywhere I went, there was plastic as well. Once you’ve seen it, you cannot unsee it! This inspired me to study the master ‘Freshwater and Marine Biology’. As a team member of the The Ocean Movement’s science department I’m able to not only inform people about plastic pollution but also to share stories about all the beautiful things that are present under water. Education is the key to create awareness and by spreading the love for our ocean I hope to encourage people to open their eyes and counteract plastic pollution.”
