INTERNATIONAL UNION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT. PROFILE OF AN ORGANIZATION
Since its founding in 1885, the Union Internationale des Transports Publics (UITP), which is located in Belgium, has been dedicated to improving urban mobility. For more than a century, its primary objectives have been to (a) study all questions concerning public transport in order to find progressive solutions to problems that affect the mass transit sector and (b) represent and serve the interests of its members through direct contact with individual members and other international organizations. This article examines the UITP's membership, structure, biennial international congress, specialty conferences, special activities, and international information exchange.
