Scientific name: Lanius schach IUCN conservation status: Least Concern Two subspecies of this bird can be found in Nepal. The photo on the left shows an individual of the subspecies L. s. tricolor which has a completely black crown. L. s. erythronotus has a grey crown. This species can be distinguised from L. tephronotus as it has small white patches on its wings (not visible in this photo). |

Scientific name: Lanius tephronotus IUCN conservation status: Least Concern This species looks quite similar to the subspecies L. s. erythronotus of the above species. It can be distinguished by the absence of white patches on its wings. |
