Jangseung TOTEM by Lee Sisan Dimensions: W 36 x D 36 x H 200 cm Materials: Raw steel, natural stone Each piece is made to order and uses natural stones, so please expect some variability in design. is a Korean traditional TOTEM pole. Jangseungs were traditionally placed at the edges of villages to mark for village boundaries and frighten away demon. They were also worshipped as village tutelary deities. Lee Sisan is a designer and artist based in Seoul, South Korea. He majored in interior design to explore the relationship between nature, artifact and humans. He identifies the essence of the material and make form of refined language. He conducts experiments in which man-made beings coexist in harmony with nature and maintain balance.
