About the Item
A gleaming lipstick red cabochon of natural precious coral is claw-set into a hand-fabricated 18K white gold mounting in this midcentury ring. Three eye-clean and near-colorless diamonds are set on either side like parenthesis and weigh around .35 carats in total. Measuring 22mm x 12mm, the coral is a stunning, evenly-toned vivid lipstick red with the high-gloss polish of a grand piano. This is a bold, impeccably crafted ring is so perfectly chic. This is a pristine cabochon of coral in the most prized color coral is found in and without any trace of a bluish tint.
This color and quality of coral is becoming more elusive by the day. The rich red coral you see here comes from coral branches that are close to the surface of the warm waters off the coast of Italy. It's this coral that has been largely over-harvested. As a result, most of the coral must today be brought up from deeper water and it does not possess this intense red color.
