This work, known as the 'Gentleman's Dictionary', included three distinct parts, each presented in its own volume: Art of horse riding, Art of military and war and Art of sailing. The present volume is the Military Art. Each section is organized alphabetically with each entry containing explanations and examples of the military related word. Duodecimo. 267 pages. Illustrated with a large copper engraved folding plate. Sheep binding. In French. Toning to pages, as expected, and occasional, light spotting around margins. Corners bumped, and some chipping to leather boards, most noticeably a 0.75" chip at upper right quadrant of cover. Ownership signature in ink on title page. Overall in very good condition.
