Two vols. 16mo. Pp. (4), viii, 248. Engraved frontis. Pp. (4), 214. Contemporary calf with four raised bands, borders and vignettes elaborately tooled in blind, dentelles, gilt-tooled borders and spine. Marbled edges and endpapers. Spines a bit faded to a mellow brown. Mild rubbing, light foxing that's mostly marginal; faint dampstain first 10 leaves of vol. II; grease pencil scribble p. 185 of vol. II. An attractive set, handsomely bound. A later collected-edition of these 18th century works, exquisitely bound by Ponge. Elected to the Académie in the year of his death, Charles Pierre Colardeau (1732-76) is best remembered for Héroides, written after the manner of Ovid, as well as a famous Lettre d'Héloise à Abelard, included in the first volume.
