Sturdily bound in a short octavo hardcover format, the 24 volumes measuring 7 1/4" tall x 5" wide, respectively. Marbled paper over boards, rubbed tips and edges, black leather over tips and spine, with four raised spines, gilt-lettered titles and ruling to spines, three fleurs-de-lis to each. Bumping to spine heads and feet, some scuffing thereto and to spines and edges, with light soiling to some endpapers and a bit of foxing thereto, dissipating. Marbled endpapers front and rear, quite bright, and then with lovely steel-engraved frontispieces by leading engravers of the day, seemingly obtained for the 1857 Ticknor & Fields edition, by Gibbings, Wright-Smith, Eltmore, Stone, Gilbert, McIan, Cope, Franklin and many others. Stereotyped by H.O. Houghton & Co. Interestingly, the 28 books that comprise the so-called Waverley Novels did not feature Sir Walter Scott's name until 1827. This set is incomplete and is missing several initial volumes. This set contains Ivanhoe II (350 pp.); The Abbot II (320 pp.); Anne of Geierstein II (348 pp.); Guy Mannering II (330 pp.); The Antiquary II (301 pp.); Count Robert of Paris II (286 pp.); The Fair Maid of Perth (336 pp.); The Betrothed. The Highland Widow (368 pp.); Kenilworth (333 pp.); The Fortunes of Nigel II (346 pp.); The Heart of Mid-Lothian (406 pp.); The Monastery II (304 pp.); Old Mortality II (308 pp.); Peveril of the Peak II (460 pp.); Quentin Durward II (348 pp.); Woodstock, or, The Cavalier (360 pp.); Bride of Lammermoor II (240 pp.); Castle Dangerous II (388 pp., including index and glossary); Kenilworth (II); The Pirate II (332 pp.); Redgauntlet II (318 pp.); Rob Roy II (338 pp.); The Talisman II, The Two Drovers. My Aunt Margaret's Mirror. The Tapestried Chamber. The Laird's Jock. (296 pp.); The Black Dwarf. A Legend of Montrose (274 pp.); Waverley II (369 pp.). All in, a nice start on a fine set of the Waverley novels by Sir Walter Scott in a handsome, uniform binding, clean, sturdy, handsome.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets. Seller Inventory # 357348

Store Description
I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and
every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition
insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get
taken to and from book fairs, and so on. If for some reason you don't like your
purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to you at all, you
might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.

Most orders will ship within one to two business days, but often times, they
will go out on the same day as they are ordered. I've based my shipping
costs on the assumption of books weighing 2.2
