For safety reasons, it's recommended to use a Voltage Converter/Transformer that has max watt at least 1.5x higher than your appliance. For example; this 5000 Watt transformer can only be used with an appliance that uses up to 3200 Watts that is to prevent damage from the transformer itself and the appliance being used. Easy to convert AC 110V to 220V or AC 220V to 110V. This converter is designed only for European/Asian 220V (Single Phase) , it will not work with American 220 (Dual Phase, Not designed for US 220V). This transformer doesn't make any noise while in use.

A simple efficient economic solution
Item arrived on time in perfect condition. The requirement was to power my UK made 8-box amplifier system I had shipped over to the USA. I liked the simplicity of just a step-up from 110 to 240 which should mean less to go wrong. So far it's not just quiet it's silent and cool running after 8 hours. It has a useful watts usage indicator which shows that 2000w was more than I needed but heh at this price better to be safe than sorry - right?. I have the system on permanently as it takes 12-24 hours to warm up so I will return with an update in a month or so and hopefully up the rating to 5*

I got this product delivered today. Even though the item was marked as "Sold by All Region World via Amazon Fulfillment", the packing was pathetic. This item weighs around 10 lbs and the unit was packed in a smaller box with very little or no padding. The quality of the packing box was so bad that it was crumpled. With the result, the corners of the metallic casing of the unit were deformed. The unit might have been tossed so much by UPS that the transformer inside the unit shakes and has left an impression on the top surface of the casing. I have decided to return this unit and order it directly from the manufacturer.

After the first use, I found it runs quietly, no usual transformer humming sound, doesn't heat much (I plugged in a vacuum cleaner for 5-10 minutes). I am yet to test it over an extended period. I'll update this review soon to let you know how this unit performs.

I would recommend you buy this item probably directly from the manufacturers site or pick it up from a store, but not from "All Region World". I am saying this because, I feel this seller called "All Region World" also called as "Tapan Sheth" on Amazon, doesn't care about whether the unit reaches you in good shape or condition.

Overall I'll give this product a 4 stars for now (May change it once I test the replacement unit). I am not sure about the assembly part of it. Either the poor packing disturbed the transformer fitting inside or it came out of factory that way. I hope the former is true.

PROS:

1. Compact unit
2. No transformer humming noise
3. Doesn't heat much

CONS:

1. Factory packing box is not strong enough to secure the 10 lbs unit. Make sure you order with a supplier that packs it well.
2. You don't really know the exact output voltage you are getting out. Everybody does not carry voltmeters. A small digital display on the face showing output voltage would be nice.

5/20/2010 The negative feedback that I left for "All Region World" on Amazon disappeared after a day. I didn't know you can do that on Amazon.

It's a good size, very compact and easy to store. Delivers great power for only 2000w. Was able to power an average size Freezer and even used a microwave at the same time even though it's not suggested for microwaves. It handled a power tool, freezer and microwave with no stress. It also handled 2 9,000 btu window AC with no stress.

I work in both SE Asia and Canada, and often take electrical devices either way. Some 120V devices work fine on 240V, but none of my 240V devices work well on 120V. A step-up transformer is the answer, at least for most of my devices I bring from Asia to Canada, taking 120V and outputting 240V. this LiteFuze converter/transformer does the trick for me at both ends of the journey. Plugged in to Canadian sockets, it can generate 2000W of available 240V supply, and the same reversed. It is simple to use: plug in, turn on, and use the front outlet to access the transformer supply. The device weights 5kg, so not light, but also not impossible to carry around. I now leave one in Asia and have one here in Canada.

While not intended to power some devices like heat guns or microwave ovens, I have used it perfectly well with some audio equipment (streaming servers, DACs, and integrated amps for example), as well as with finicky computer electronic devices that don't like voltage differences. Circuit breakers on the unit protect both the transformer as well as the plugged-in devices, and the unit runs remarkably cool (my last step-up transformer generated both heat and noise; this one does not). While I can't speak to the success you would have with all equipment through the transformer, for my electronic (and computer) and audio devices, it has worked flawlessly. It's now part of my plug-in process as I move back and forth across the ocean, and it is reasonably priced, too.
