You might be wondering why on earth I put something about zippers in the title. Well, I've tried a bunch of coats with terrible zippers that I have to fight with for ten minutes if I want to get the coat on. Some are so bad that they made me think that I have forgotten how to use a zipper. Turns out, I can still use a good zipper just fine. This catch easily and zip right up, just like a zipper should. That's a good thing, considering the fact that it's double zippered.
As far as size goes, if you are going to layer, you're going to want to get a size up. The coat itself is warm, but it's not going to be enough if it gets extremely cold out there. Here in Ohio, we really only get that cold occasionally in January or February these days, so I'm not too worried about it. It used to get that cold starting in November, but nothing has changed and everything is fine. It does do a great job of blocking out wind, thanks to that double zipper and the down.
It does go in the washing machine and the dryer. It says you should dry it with three clean tennis balls. Well, at least it's not lay flat to dry or anything annoying like that.
Overall quality seems quite high. All the zippers are good. The pockets have zippers on them, and those pockets can swallow a large smartphone in an otter box.
The neck is fleece lined, so it's soft and warm. The pockets are too. You can definitely shove your hands in the pockets to keep them warm. The lining is the only thing I'm a bit worried about. It's quite thin. If it gets caught on something somehow, it's going to tear.
