8/25/21 ~ Since my first review, the iPod is now working. We were using the generic cables and it would not record the music, but once we used the original Apple USB cables then we were able to record the music with no problems.

This IPod shuffle almost never held a charge, now wont even power up. The larger, earlier generation shuffles were much better, easier to use, lasted longer. Apple made a great product here, but they abandoned it so you have to chase one down from second hand, second rate dealers and take your chances.
