About the Author
As one of the developers of MyStrategicPlan, Erica has stripped strategic planning of its fate as a static document. With her online strategic planning system, any organization, regardless of size and budget, can build a plan in a matter of weeks (or even days). Once completed, the online system actually helps organizations execute the plan instead of just shoving it on a shelf.
MyStrategicPlan is just one of several services offered by Ericas company, M3 Planning. M3 also does onsite strategic planning facilitation and retreats as well as market research consulting. Over the last several years, M3 has developed and reviewed hundreds of strategic plans for organizations across the country.
In addition to Strategic Planning For Dummies, Erica has co-authored Strategic Planning Made Easy: A Practical Guide to Growth and Profitability, and contributes regular columns to local, regional, and national business publications.

So then I ordered the previous edition in hard copy. This has about 95% similarity with the "kit". Of course the downloadable "forms" are not available with this book (I think the forms are useless anyway - you should develop your own format). Secondly there are a few minor updates in the newer book, but these are fairly minor in nature.
If you are looking for a way to learn and understand strat planning "on the cheap", this is a very good deal!
I found it to be a pretty practical guide to what is in reality a pretty complex subject. I had not brushed up on my strategic planning reading since completing an MBA several years ago so I chose this book as part of my reading list. I found it to be a very good refresher, although its not really designed for large businesses in mind.
This book is great for those who work in, or even run a small and medium sized enterprise (SME) who want either an introduction or a refresher to an under-utilised and poorly applied strategic business tool.
