This friendly, simple guide puts the power of strategic planning in the palm of your hand. For small businesses that can’t afford to hire strategic planning consultants, it’s even more imperative. Careful, constant planning is the only way to handle an uncertain business future. With this book, you’ll have all the step-by-step guidance you need to ensure you’re ready for anything that comes.

She’s frequently tapped to lecture at the University of Nevada in Reno and the University of Phoenix in Reno on management and planning topics. Once completed, the online system actually helps organizations execute the plan instead of just shoving it on a shelf.

Over the last several years, M3 has developed and reviewed hundreds of strategic plans for organizations across the country.

Excellent, good for novice and great refresher for experienced. Step by step highlighting the important things. This is relatively cheap compared to other books on the subject but just a good.

Very basic, as the Dummies guides tend to be. I prefer Balanced Scorecard Planning for Dummies - but this might be an appropriate starter super-Dummies version before you dig into a specific method like BSC. Regardless, a good intro and it will get you started off right.

Yes. Great book for strategic planning.

I am interested in learning the nuts and bolts of strategic planning to better apply my company's strategy management software for our customers. This book appears to have received 8 glowing reviews. Funny thing, though: those reviewers who state their location are from Reno NV or other NV locations. The others do not give their location. Looking at the author's profile, she is located in Reno NV. Is that a coincidence or are these "seeded" reviews meant to pump up the book? To be fair, I have not read the book, nor will I give it a bad rating for having clearly suspicious reviews. If I buy it and like it, I will adjust my rating accordingly.

Just what I needed. Purchased for the office to use. I do not recall whether this book was purchased new or not. It is in great condition.

Straight forward and simple to use. It met all of my expectations and allowed me to build a modified approach to the process for a project I am working on.

I am not normally fond of "for Dummies" books, but this one is a very good one. Even for very formal planning exercises. A good investment!

It’s very readable and logical, and takes into consideration the role of strategic planning for non profit organisations. Glad I got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, content largely the same as the Strat Planning Kit for Dummies
Reviewed in Canada on October 29, 2012
I ordered the Strategic Planning Kit for Dummies eBook. Found the content to be good, but the DRM on the Adobe reader coupled with strange controls and lack of responsiveness made it nearly impossible to use and the DRM made it impossible to share with my senior staff. So after being hosed for an expensive digital book that was nearly unusable (WHY can't they put it in Kindle format??), I had to repurchase the content in hard copy. I didn't want to pay full price for a second copy of something I already had, so I looked at the Strategic Planning for Dummies. It was much, much less expensive than the newer "Strategic Planning for Dummies Kit"

So then I ordered the previous edition in hard copy. This has about 95% similarity with the "kit". Of course the downloadable "forms" are not available with this book (I think the forms are useless anyway - you should develop your own format). Secondly there are a few minor updates in the newer book, but these are fairly minor in nature.

If you are looking for a way to learn and understand strat planning "on the cheap", this is a very good deal!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference for Small Cos
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 27, 2009
I found this book an excellent reference to Strategic Planning - for the SME.

I found it to be a pretty practical guide to what is in reality a pretty complex subject. I had not brushed up on my strategic planning reading since completing an MBA several years ago so I chose this book as part of my reading list. I found it to be a very good refresher, although its not really designed for large businesses in mind.

This book is great for those who work in, or even run a small and medium sized enterprise (SME) who want either an introduction or a refresher to an under-utilised and poorly applied strategic business tool.
