I remember as a new Christian, people would say, “We need to walk like Jesus.” I would think..but how? What does that mean?! This book answers these types of questions and gives a clear path of how to practically follow Jesus. For example, in Luke 9:24, Tim explains and gives examples of what it means to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus. Then, he asks the reader questions to ponder so it can be applied personally. I feel passionately about discipleship because of it’s impact on continuing with Jesus throughout one’s life. This book gives insight into why we should pursue a life of discipleship as well as energizes the reader to want to encourage and help others follow Jesus.

This book removes the confusion of what a disciple of Jesus Christ is and what one is supposed to be doing in the Great Commission. This book is deep enough theologically to grow/solidify one’s convictions on discipleship, but it is practical enough to get one going and hit the road running. Dr. Wiebe uses scripture to define discipleship, the different areas that discipleship impacts our lives, and how this leads to us “making disciples” and sharing the faith. It is an awesome book for individuals and it is a great book to read with small groups.

I've read books where you know the author is really intelligent and is probably saying something smart, but I read a paragraph 3 times and am still not sure I've understood it. This isn't that book. Dr. Wiebe clearly has a larger than average brain, but he uses it to provide biblical insight as to what walking with Jesus should look like and a practical vision on how to do it in the real world. I'm appreciative for a book that helps me answer "am I doing it right" as I often question what discipleship looks like for non-pastors who work regular 9-5 jobs.
