Presentation

Marc Josse grew up on the Emerald Coast, a place that has influenced the works of Bernard Buffet, Pablo Picasso and Alfred Hitchcock. It is a region that is the home of Mathurin Meheut and the Ecole Pont-Aven movement founded by Paul Gaugin. Rich with inspiration and culture it is the foundation prevalent in many of Marc Josse’s works.

At first he began with Black and White photojournalism to concentrate on the presentation and the construction of his subjects. This can be seen in his editorial works in Cuba, the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver and in the first chapiter of his transamerican work in Lunar Chronicles. He soon after became more engrossed in colour photography after the success of his collection Castines. It was in the search of portraying how we remember our childhood that he was able to master long exposure photography during the day. The sale of the work in this collection at the auction house of Millon et Associé in Paris is what has given him his cote on the Art Market today.

Marc Josse currently lives in France and his studio is based in the 3rd arrondissement in Paris in front of the world renown Hotel Bains Douches.
