Philippe Marlier

Philippe Marlier (1600 - 1668) was active/lived in Netherlands.  Philippe Marlier is known for Painting.

Philippe De Marlier was born in Antwerp between 1595 and 1605. Marlier joined the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp as an apprentice in 1617- 1618 as a student of Carel van Ferrara, becoming the artist between 1621 and 1622. In the following years we know Philippe De Marlier was in Portugal but then again in Antwerp with his own workshop where he formed several artists, Carstian Luyckx, Gabriël van Baesrode and Frans van Oorschot. Its activities also included the sale of pictures and making copies, especially by Frans Francken the Younger. Its production has mainly floral still life by analogy with Jan Brueghel the Younger, but especially elegant painted garlands of flowers with picture inserts.
