Artist Biography & Facts
Roger Eliot Gilson

Roger Eliot Gilson (20th century) was active/lived in United States.  Roger Gilson is known for Landscapes with buildings and snow, marine scenes.

The following information is from Bill Grant, nephew of the artist Roger Elliot Gilson:

Roger Elliot Gilson was a landscape painter. He was my Uncle. He was married to Ellinor Gilson nee. Boardman. He lived in Eastham, MA and also Holbrook, MA. He painted through the middle part of the 1900’s.

His landscapes were a part of our home décor for years, and I still have one of his works in my home. I remember as a small boy, walking through his basement, smelling the wonderful oil paint and turpentine, seeing what I though was an enormous tube of Titanium white on his work bench thinking "that must be a very important color...he has a lot of it!”. Uncle Roger had a tarp set up in the front of the cottage that I used to practice drive golf balls into.

We still miss him and Aunt Ellinor. He passed away sometime in the 1980’s, Aunt Ellinor a few years after.
