About This Item

Chester, PA, 1947. Paperback. Fair-/None. 1946 Our photos depict the actual book offered. Beige paper staplebound booklet with black titling on front; spine is repaired with tape and front cover is heavily chipped and with a long closed tear in the center; rear cover is dampstained, (in other words, forget the cover). Top page corners are bent and some chipped. All text is readable, and interior is unmarked. 15.5 x 23 cm. Ships from US. BOOK INFO: See photos for Table of Contents. Illustrated in B&W photography. 'The records of our lineage date back some three hundred years to Johann Michael Haas of Roth (Rot), Oberamt Mergentheim, Wuerttemberg, Germany. The projected book, The House of Haas, is to be the history of his descendents but will require many more years of research before it is completed; so it has seemed best to the author to release this story in installments, of which this is the first. The genealogy which you are now reading is a complete register of the lineal descendents of Johann Georg Haas, a great-grandson of Johann Michael, and is prompted by my desire to place immediately in your hands the history of the former's progeny who have carried on the family name. No earnest attempt has been made to determine his descendents through the female lines.... We want the facts to be known, for this is the history of our family, the history of an old and honored name.' (-from the Preface). Date of publication is taken from the date of the author's preface.
