TC Brussels- Jacques Vandenhaute acquitted

The former alderman of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Jacques Vandenhaute, was acquitted on Thursday of the charge of misuse of social assetsby the criminal court in Brussels, reveals La Derniere Heure. The State Prosecutor was accusing him of unjustifiably giving out free memberships to the local district swimming pool in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre amounting to 27,000 euros.

The former mayor had appeared before the judge’s chambers on 12 charges, and although most of the cases were dismissed he was sent back to the trial court for misuse of social assets.

83-year-old Jacques Vandenhaute is a member of Mouvement Reformateur(MF) and was politically active in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre in the 70s. He was alderman of the town from 1983 to 2007, when he was charged and relieved of his responsibilities. He was also senator and a member of the federal parliament.
