Many of us are familiar with Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper (1495 - 1498). It’s a glorious example of Italian High Renaissance art, and a staple in Catholic dining rooms.

We may not be quite as familiar with Salvador Dali’s piece of the same subject: Sacrament of the Last Supper (1955). Dali is generally considered a surrealist artist, as exemplified in his widely recognized Persistence of Time. Sacrament of the Last Supper is an example of Dali’s New Classicism work, which followed his surrealist period.

It is captivating! And it’s so different from da Vinci’s version.

Although I tried desperately to take a good photo with accurate color AND without glare, it clearly did not work. The color temperature of the first full-size image is accurate. The second full-size image provides a better sense of the depth of the piece.
