On this solemn October 11th, we stand united in outrage and sorrow following the heinous acts of murder, rape, beheading, and the capture of innocent civilians. We are appalled by the audacity of eleven UPenn-sponsored clubs who have shamefully referred to these vile acts as a "dignified fight." As human beings, we categorically reject these clubs' statements and demand accountability for their grievous words and actions.

A few days ago, over 30 clubs at Harvard penned an identical letter, declaring, "We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence." This statement, from the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Groups, was issued despite widespread objections from thousands who rightly labeled it as anti-Semitic. Tragically, UPenn clubs have chosen to follow the Harvard playbook, echoing that Israel "bears sole responsibility for the violence which has been taking place this week."

It is disheartening that these eleven organizations have endorsed a movement led by Hamas, a designated terrorist organization that has repeatedly called for the annihilation of every Jewish person. There can be no justification for such hatred. This is an act of barbarism, a stark display of moral bankruptcy, and a callous disregard for human life. To assert that the Israeli government is accountable for the brutal murder of its own innocent civilians is a deeply disturbing and unfounded statement.

Even as current students on campus remain in anguish, uncertain about the safety and whereabouts of their loved ones, we are inundated with images and videos of the unspeakable atrocities that have transpired. In the face of this, we implore every club to withdraw their endorsement of this hateful statement.

We further call upon the university administration to promptly and resolutely condemn this statement. Failure to do so is not just a failure of leadership but a moral stain on the entire institution.

As we mourn the loss of those who have been murdered, as we pray for the recovery of the thousands who have been wounded, and as we yearn for the safe return of those who have been captured, we implore you to stand with us in solidarity and support. In these unprecedented times, we unequivocally stand behind Israel and the Jewish people.
