Description

The following specs were carefully collected and recorded by a skilled technician. For a more detailed description and questions regarding sound, feel, or cosmetic condition, please visit our Lincoln Avenue showroom or call to speak to one of our Used and Vintage experts.
Finish Details: The body and neck have been refinished.
Body Material: Mahogany
Body Details: Mahogany back and sides with spruce top. There are a number of splice repairs in the body sides, with various mahogany patches under the clear topcoat. The back of the body has repaired cracks toward the heel, as well as two filled holes on either end of the center seam. These are likely registration holes from the back being removed and reglued. The bridge plate has been replaced and a number of braces have been reglued, and the top shows wear from a previous bridge reglue and from the bridge plate removal.
Neck Material: Mahogany
Fingerboard Material: Ebony
Neck Profile: "V" profile
Neck Thickness (IN): .80" (1st fret), .94" (9th fret)
Fingerboard Radius: 16.00"
Nut Width: 1-7/8"
Scale Length: 25 2/5"
Neck Details: Mahogany neck with unbound ebony fretboard, dot inlays, and Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer. The neck has been reset, refretted with bar fret stock, and oversprayed. The original "C.F. Martin & Co." imprint on the back of the headstock is clear and intact. The nut has been replaced, and there are numerous reglued chips in the ebony fretboard from the refret.
Electronics: None
Hardware: The bridge, nut, saddle, bridge plate, pickguard, and bridge pins have all been replaced. The endpin is also missing.
Weight: 3lbs
Modifications/Repairs: -Refinished body and neck -Numerous mahogany patches in the sides of the body -Repaired cracks on the back, and filled holes on the center seam -Many braces have been reglued -The back was removed for certain repairs -Replaced bridge plate and bridge -Replaced nut, saddle, and bridge pins -The neck has been reset and refretted -Pickguard added
Case Details: Original Hardshell Case
Cosmetic Condition: This vintage Martin 000-18 shows the signs of its nearly 100 year history, with notable finish wear around the bridge and numerous repairs on the back and sides. The top has many scratches and dings, and a worn area around the bridge likely from a previous repair. The sides of the body have many mahogany patches, particularly around the treble bout, and the back of the body has repaired cracks toward the heel. These repairs are all underneath the clear topcoat. The glossy neck is mostly smooth, with a handful of scratches on the treble side of the first few frets. There are a number of reglued chips in the ebony fretboard as well.
Serial Number: 28355
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief; the replaced bar frets are tall with only minor play wear. The serial number, body shape, and appointments date the guitar to 1926.
