The first exhaustive monograph on the architect who together with Giuseppe Terragni contributed to the success of rationalist architecture in Italy.

The first exhaustive monograph on the architect who together with Giuseppe Terragni contributed to the success of rationalist architecture in Italy. Edited by Chiara Baglione and Elisabetta Susani and introduced by a collection of historical and critical essays, this volume renders the complexity of Pietro Lingeri’s personality from his training to his maturity, through his relations with his clients, Como rationalism and the close collaboration with Terragni. Lingeri (Tremezzo, 1894-1968) moved to Milan in 1906 and embarked on a career as an interior designer until the outbreak of World War I. After the war he enrolled in the architecture courses at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 1926. He was the very young designer of the motorboat association AMILA’s head offices in Tremezzo on Lake Como and then opened his own architectural office in association with Terragni, with whom he created numerous works and projects. After becoming a member of MIAR, he participated in the second exhibition of rationalist architecture held in Rome in 1931. This volume includes a catalogue of his works arranged chronologically and follows the whole course of his architectural career in detail, both individually and in partnership with Terragni, which is supported by documents and illustrations. A biography, list of works, bibliography and indexes are valuable aids for the reader and complete the volume.
